Nelmarie du Preez (South Africa, 1985) is a South African artist working in the fields of performance, photography, video and computational arts. In 2014 she completed her MFA Fine Art at Goldsmiths, University of London, where she also completed her MA in Computational Arts (2013). Solo-shows include Ribot Gallery, Milan, 2018; ad-ad projects, Hannover, 2018; Pretoria Art Museum, Pretoria, 2016; Room Gallery and Projects, 2016 and arebyte gallery, London, 2015. She has also exhibited at prestigious galleries and Museums such as, Museum am Dom, Trier, 2018; New Media Gallery, Vancouver, 2017; Transmediale Festival, Dokumenta 14; the International Digital Arts Biennale, Arsenal, Montreal, 2016; London Open, Whitechapel Gallery, 2015; Home Works 7, Ashkwal Alwan, Beirut, 2015. She has also taken part in several residencies, including Künstlerhaus Schloss Balmoral, Bad Ems, 2018-19; Ampersand Foundation, New York, 2016; arebyte gallery, London, 2015. In recent years she has also received several awards and scholarships such as, the Sasol New Signatures Winner, South Africa, 2015; Absa l’atelier merit, South Africa, 2015; Bath Open Art Prize, UK, 2015; Bad Behaviour Open Judges Prize, UK, 2014; Oppenheimer Memorial Trust scholarship, 2012-14.
